Group lighting

Nowadays, you don’t have to go with boring big box store pendants or cookie cutter chandeliers. You can choose from a variety of lighting options right at your finger tips.

Such abundant choices leave you breathless with the anticipation of the hunt for the perfect pendant or chandeliers for your kitchen islands wide open air space. (AKA; prime decoration real estate) The right lighting is “forever” jewelry for your kitchen.

Depending on the kitchen island workspace, and what you’re generally using the area for on a daily basis, these will be the deciding factors in types of pendants or chandelier lighting you choose. We’ve put together a handy-dandy guide to help you choose the best lighting for your kitchen island.

1. Think Proportion

Believe it or not, Bigger is better. The air over your center island is pretty big generally speaking even if it’s a smaller center island there is still a lot of empty air space.
Secondary thoughts,
You’re not only lighting the center island but the kitchen area around you, possibly your work spaces behind you counters for cutting, chopping, preparing,
cleaning and cooking and your seating and chatting areas around the island. The additional lighting for these areas is a plus coming from your center island.

THINK IMPACT, So don’t be stingy with size, better to err on the side of big. Oversized lighting will create a beautiful focal point.

You can also with experiment with hanging your pendants at different heights to create a  unique visual effect. Lights are hung about 30-36 inches (75 to 90cm) above the island counter surface, you can change the height accordingly.
